Terms of Use

The National Academy of Marine Research, OAC, hereinafter referred to as 'NAMR,' operates the National Ocean Database and Sharing System, hereinafter referred to as 'NODASS' or 'this service.' The website for this service system is https://nodass.namr.gov.tw. By using this service, you signify your unconditional agreement to follow and be bound by these Terms of Use.

  1. The offered services are listed below:
    • (1) Ocean Database Dynamic Map Platform (Web Map API): Refers to the manual operation by users of the man-machine interface (Web Maps API service) provided within this system, resulting in the production and acquisition of Static Maps (map image files) or data, but does not imply the acquisition of copyright. The usage within the webpage, such as for location labeling, descriptions, etc., is not covered by this provision.
    • (2) Ocean Database Dataset Download: Refers to the use of the data download function within this system to obtain original data (Raw Data), derived products, or standard normalized data.
  2. You may display the contents captured and extracted from this service to the public through the Internet, videos, print advertisements, and theses for legal purposes.
  3. NAMR assumes no responsibility for the availability, immediacy, security, or reliability of the offered service. In other words, NAMR is not liable for any losses caused by abnormalities in this system, this service, or the data you use. Additionally, NAMR reserves the right to modify, suspend, or terminate this service at any time without prior notice and shall not be held liable for any resulting consequences.
  4. Data classified as "Open Data" is available for free use or download by members who log into this service. "Controlled Data" requires payment or authorization from the original unit, and external access is limited to browsing and querying. NAMR owned data is only accessible to "Government Agencies (Institutions)," "Academic Institutions," "Research Institutions," and "Legal Entities". Applicants must log into this service and use the "Data Inquiry Application" review process provided by this service to secure these rights. For detailed application instructions, please refer to Point 6 of the "National Ocean Database Data Release Operation Guidelines."
  5. This Service reserves the right of service suspension, transition to paid service and ad placement in the future.
  6. This service will be continuously updated, and the lasted information will be announced on the system's homepage. Users may need to modify their websites depending on the situation.
  7. NAMR has the right (but is not obligated) to investigate your use of the service, to determine whether there is a violation of these terms of use, and whether all laws, regulations, legal procedures or government administrative orders are complied with.
  8. This service is not transferable and can only be used based on goodwill, without misuse or slander. When using the services, NAMR has the right to use your company, affiliated school, or sector for promotion.
  9. The images provided by NODASS may contain identification information, copyright marks, or symbols of NAMR or other providers; users do not have the right to alter, remove, or obscure them in any way.
  10. NAMR disclaims any responsibility for any harm resulting from downloading or accessing any information or material from NODASS.
  11. NAMR disclaims any responsibility of your loss caused by any suggestion or information, whether it’s oral or written, provided by the NAMR and NODASS.
  12. NAMR reserves the right to limit your usage, data volume, network bandwidth, etc., through system settings at any time without notice
  13. NAMR reserves all rights of interpretation for these terms of use.
  14. NAMR will record users' usage of this service, including but not limited to IP addresses, browser/agent types, browsing time, and data downloads. This data is solely used for statistical reporting, diagnosing computer systems or related issues, and assisting in the improvement of the service. Unless explicitly stated otherwise, NAMR will not disclose users' personal information or use it for other profit-oriented purposes.
